Rider of the Winds
Artifact of unknown origin
This eloquently crafted two-handed sword is made of the purest
mithral steel and is intricately inlaid with runes of magical inscrip-
tions along it's blade. The Rider of the Winds appears to be a large,
extra-heavy two-handed sword. A character that is less then 6' tall and
with less then 18 strength will find it too unbalanced to wield properly
in combat. However a character of sufficient size and strength will find
that it will function as a two-handed sword +5.
Alignment
The Rider of the Winds has an alignment of Chaotic Neutral and any
evil aligned creatures/characters that try to handle or grab the two-
handed sword will immediately receive a 5d4 electrical shock (no saving
throw for half, MR% rolls or immunities allowed) and will drop it from
their grasp with sudden revulsion and hatred.
Constant Abilities
1d10+5 S-M/3d6+5 L
2d10+5 S-M/6d6+5 L to all goblinkind & giant class creatures.
3d10+5 S-M/9d6+5 L to all undead creatures.
Functions as a “Amulet of Proof against Detection and Location”.
Minor Powers: (when unsheathed & held)
Major Powers: (when unsheathed & held)
The Rider of the Winds automatically projects a circle of power 20' in diameter when it is unsheathed and held. This power dispels all forms of direct hostile magic (Magic missile, Melf's acid arrow, Fire shield, etc.) of a level up to and including the wielder's experience level.
The Rider of the Winds is 50% magically resistant to all forms of magic (that is not dispelled by the artifact), any type of spell attack that the magical resistance overcomes is used as healing (the damage they would have dealt is gained as HP, or non-damaging spells yield 1 HP per spell level up to the wielder's maximum HP) or if the wielder is totally healed it will reflect the spell that is cast at it or it's wielder back at the enemy spellcaster, including spells with an area of effect.
The Rider of the Winds is 50% psionically resistant to all forms of psionic attacks.
Dangers:
If the wielder does not makes a successful unmodified saving throw vs. polymorph whenever he is healed by the artifact it causes the wielder's form to instantly and permanently become a swirling, shadowy figure of winds that is a totally loyal minion to Shaundakul, Rider of the Winds (only a limited wish or wish spell can revert him to his original form) and the artifact just drops to the ground waiting for another wielder.

Introduction
The previous version of this compendium was released close to fifteen years ago. With FidoNet long gone, and plain text out of style, I figured it was time to reformat this thing for the internet. This version includes seven spell submissions that didn'….
