HISTORY OF THE ZENKITHE

Very little is known about the origin of the zenkithe. However, their natural environment is the subtropical jungles on Znihhl Ekteoead. Zenkithe are suspected to have had civilization long before the first elven city was formed.

BIOLOGY OF THE ZENKITHE

Zenkithe are an extremely strong species. Their muscular physical structure usually prevents death from blunt weapons. They require less food than a human on a kilogram-to-kilogram basis and prefer vegetables over meat, but will eat either if necessary.

SOCIALIOLOGY OF THE ZENKITHE

The zenkithe regard honor above all else. All zenkithe thieves are considered outcasts from normal zenkithe society (they require double the normal experience). Zenkithe are considered the most honorable of all species. No matter what the circumstances, a true zenkithe will never behave dishonorably. For this reason, they are often considered heroes even by other species.

The zenkithe have many holidays. The festival of the dead takes place on the 26th day of the year, from sun-up to sun-down. The festival consists of zenkithe swarming the streets, chanting and praying in their language in remembrance of the dead. Fasting is a nearly universal ritual for zenkithe on this day.

The day of lights, the 39th day of the year, commemorates a special time in zenkithe history. Little is known about this event, except that a miracle occured, greater than even modern magic-weilders are capable of. The primary ritual on this day consists of zenkithe carrying torches to the Kodon River on Gridatia or the sea on other islands. As the sun fades, the torches are extinguished. The zenkithe then return to their city or village and light the communal torch, which is approximately 10 meters long and weighs about 100 kilograms. Eleven zenkithe on each side lift it with one hand and take it to the river, the whole community following them. The torch is then extinguished at sun-up the next day. After the zenkithe return from the second extinguishing (called the Harhci [hal-rickkk]), they dine upon fine foods in a celebration of the new day.

The Moshka (74th day) is a time for zenkithe music. The various zenkithe musicians preform in the streets, a time the elves dread. The instruments are primarily percussion and string.

Several anniversary celebrations include the rite of honor, celebrated every year on the day that a zenkithe earns the rank of warrior, the Ron-Jarichk, which is the celebration of clan marriage and the Hea-Ka, celebration of the death of a nobleman.

POWERS OF THE ZENKITHE

Zenkithe are feared in hand-to-hand combat because of their ability to berserk. When a zenkithe warrior goes berserk, he gains +5% to-hit and, if they successfully hit, do double damage (roll 1d100 for damage, double it and apply any other modifiers). Berserkers also gain 1 extra attack every 2 rounds. However, berserkers are 20% easier to hit and anyone who successfully hits one adds 15% to their damage roll (any roll above 00 is considered to be 00, and all extra rolls get +15% as well). Each round a zenkithe berserks, he loses a point of dexterity, strength and constitution (note: this can cause loss of hit points or other bonuses). If any of those abilities drops to 0, the zenkithe drops from exhaustion and must rest for 2 hours. Each hour of rest in addition to this (or each hour of rest if not exhausted) restores 1 point to each of the three abilities.

Introduction

The previous version of this compendium was released close to fifteen years ago. With FidoNet long gone, and plain text out of style, I figured it was time to reformat this thing for the internet. This version includes seven spell submissions that didn'…
