The Eastern Kingdoms

Little is known about the Eastern Kingdoms. At one time, there was regular communication with Rang, but the kingdoms have become increasingly quiet over time.

Physically, the Eastern Kingdoms are nearly inaccessible from Rang. Their borders with the Ice Sea are trecherous due to rocks and ice, so there are very few ports. The border with Rang is an impassible mountain range. And on the side of the Great Sea, the mountains continue, close to the sea, for hundreds of miles. There are small port towns nestled into the mountains, but these are dissociated from the Eastern Kingdoms both culturally and politically.

Some suspect that the Eastern Kingdoms maintain their silence because of Rang's reputation of becoming friendly with its neighbors, then conquering or absorbing them. There is a good piece of evidence for this theory – what limited trade there was ceased when Ostmark, the dutchy immediately to the west of the mountains, was absorbed into Rang.

It is possible that a few Ostmark traders still venture into the Kingdoms, but if so, they do it without the knowledge of the king.
