The FidoNet AD&D Compendium Version 2.1

The Great FidoNet Compendium 2.0 was published to the AD&D FidoNet group on January 22nd, 1997.
It was adapted to the internet as Version 2.1 on August 21, 2011.
Last updated July 29, 2014.

Introduction

The previous version of this compendium was released close to fifteen years ago. With FidoNet long gone, and plain text out of style, I figured it was time to reformat this thing for the internet. This version includes seven spell submissions that didn't make the cut-off for 2.0, and a few minor corrections. Otherwise, I've only changed the formatting, organization, and the contents of this introduction page. The compendium is still 100% FidoNet material.

Contents

  • Races
    • Dwomeplugin-autotooltip__default plugin-autotooltip_bigDwome

Children of both Dwarven and Gnomish parents, the Dwome is a hybrid, sometimes intriguing, sometimes feared, always a curiosity. Their minds are keyed to earth delving in a way that encompasses both parents. A Dwome-Gnome pairing always produces Gnomes, a Dwome-Dwarf pairing always creates Dwarves, and Dwome couples produce all Dwomes. A Dwome may be a fighter, illusionist, psionicist, theif, and cleric. Multi- classes include ft/cl, ft/th, cl/th, il/th, ft/ps, ps/th, ft/ps/th, and cl/ps.…
    • Green Orcplugin-autotooltip__default plugin-autotooltip_bigGreen Orc

Green Orcs look like a cross between apes and normal orcs, but thougher, slightly more dense, less piglike, with big tusky overbites. (Picture orcs from Games Workshop products, or Blizzard's warcraft games.) Deameanor: They like to fight. If they win, they win, they die they die, as long as it is a good fight, the rougher, the better, but leave the noncombatants out of it, killing weaklings isn't fun for them. Ecology/Terrain: Similar to most humans and orcs. Basic overview: Green O…
    • Half Spriteplugin-autotooltip__default plugin-autotooltip_bigHalf Sprite

Half-sprites are the children of a human and a woodsprite. Half-sprites are people whose ancestors include humans and woodsprites, though if there are more human ancestors than woodsprite ancestors, the person is human. Woodsprites have only woodsprite ancestors
    • Woodspriteplugin-autotooltip__default plugin-autotooltip_bigWoodsprite

Woodsprites are the most developed sprites of my realms. (“Regular” sprites are known as Oldensprites.) They come in two main races, the Potsyom and the Naiif. They still retain part of the ability to never be surprised, in the form of their ability to sense creatures beyond edge of sight (the kobold about to open a door into the room, the theif behind the statue, the invisible creature about to attack or appear, the child hiding behind a bush, etc.), and their ability to suddenly se…

    • Stalestianplugin-autotooltip__default plugin-autotooltip_bigStalestian

About 2000 years ago there was a war between 2 arch magi. Durring the coarse of that war one of the wizards decided to change the population of her country into lizzard men ot bolster the ranks of her army. The result was the stalestians. This race of lizard men can inhabit any reagon normally populated by humans and still has a verry human culture similar to that found in India about 400 years ago. They worship snakes (mainly cobras that they see as being the prime preditors of thei…

    • Dragon Avatarplugin-autotooltip__default plugin-autotooltip_bigDragon Avatar

      A class for 2nd edition AD&D.

The Dragon Avatar is a warrior that has sworn to protect (or destroy) all those who are defenseless to help themselves. They are the ultimate paladin, seek out and destroy all that is evil in the world. But most important of all, protect the dragons at all costs.
    • Elemental Wizardplugin-autotooltip__default plugin-autotooltip_bigElemental Wizard

      A class for 2nd Edition AD&D.

Description: The Elemental Wizard is a wizard whose main interests lie in the study of the Elemental planes, how magic works on them, and how there affects can be used in spells on the Prime Material Plane. He spends a considerable amount of his time on the various Elemental planes researching their affects, on both magic and normal materials, and studying the beings (if any) native to those planes. Elemental Wizards tend to be semi-reclusive a…
    • The Huntsmanplugin-autotooltip__default plugin-autotooltip_bigThe Huntsman

An NPC class for 2nd Edition AD&D.

This class called the “Huntsman” makes a good NPC class that may be used for devising opponents for the player characters involved in a long term campaign. Because the class is evil-aligned and offers little variation from the Ranger class, it is not usally recommended for use as a PC class.
    • The Disjoinerplugin-autotooltip__default plugin-autotooltip_bigThe Disjoiner

Editor: I feel like most of this was lost somewhere...

To be a disjunction spell, a spell must 1) Not be available through any other school. 2) Must dissassemble, demolish, or undo something, and 3) Must be useful to evil characters, especially at high levels. There are some disjunction spells in the Spells section of the Compendium

      Dark Powers Spellcasters

Before the story begins, I should tell you who the Fearsome Five are. We are a Wizard's Guild of Five mages that live in the Eastern Heartlands of the Forgotten Realms, in the independant city of Calaunt (If you can't tell, I use the Forgotten Realms campaign setting). Each of us a specialty wizard, we are beings of absolute power and live in a huge mansion in the middle of town that EVERYBODY in the Realms knows of (unless you're from WWWWAAAA…

  • 2nd Edition Kitsplugin-autotooltip__default plugin-autotooltip_big2nd Edition Kits

These could probably be adapted to Prestige Classes...

    Warrior of the Church

First of all, these kits (now I want to tell only about one) were created for a special campaign, so there are some explanation about the slots. They have bonus non-weapon slots - reading/writing and investigation. The investigation as slot includes base knowleges in healing, tracking, chemistry, herbalism, observation. But it doesn't meen that the character is a specialist in it! The base knowlege…

    • The Aelahi's Baneplugin-autotooltip__default plugin-autotooltip_bigThe Aelahi's Bane

The following information is highly campaign specific, so background information will almost always be needed for use in your campaign. (All 3 names are pronounced the same.)

      (Drow artifact)

The Death Stalker appears to look like a ceremonial drow long sword however this eloquently crafted long sword is made up of formidable and inviolate red steel that is intricately inlaid with magical runes of dark & dire inscriptions along it's blade. A wielder of Death Stalker with less then 18 strength will find it too unbalanced to wield properly in melee combat. However a evil character with sufficient strength will find that it will function as a long sword …

      (Wizard item)

The Mad Book of Mog is a spellbook created by an insane wizard. While the original has long since been destroyed, several copies of the Book have been made over time. Some wizards have attempted to make a more functional version of the Book, but all such attempts have wound up with a version even more dysfunctional than the original.

    • Vyord Crystalsplugin-autotooltip__default plugin-autotooltip_bigVyord Crystals

Small bluish-grey crystals, the vyord crystals are mined mostly by Duergo Dwarves in the deep reaches of the earth. They are worth 1000gp, on the average, for a good quality stone. Poorer quality stones can fetch only 100-200 gp They are about as hard as rubies, and have smooth textures. Their most potent and mysterious quality, however, is their ability to create invisible lines of force that push away magical energy when in contact with living creatures.
  • Magic Itemsplugin-autotooltip__default plugin-autotooltip_bigMagic Items

    Acid Bow

This long bow contains a powerful enchantment that is capable of inflicting severe damage on a opponent or objects. All the bow user has to do is fire a normal arrow to attack the opponent and it will transform into a magical arrow as it leaves the bow. This magical arrow is just like the melf's acid arrow spell in regards to damage calculation, so the bow's arrow does 2d4 points of acid damage (with saving throws for items on the target each acid round) plus additional …
