Landingplugin-autotooltip__default plugin-autotooltip_bigLanding
Landing is the central region of Shadow, where rockets used to take supplies up to Apex. These days, it's run down and very poor, with small pockets of closely-guarded wealth. There's no central market -- shops open up seemly at random, and most goods are made and sold from individual homes. Most people live and work in very old structures, which vary from 2-3 story tenements to tall residential towers, only the first few floors of which are still habitable. Newer construction is mostly…

Sinkholeplugin-autotooltip__default plugin-autotooltip_bigSinkhole
The 40,000 or so people living in Sinkhole lives along the highway separating the district from Landing to the northwest, Market and the Upper and Lower Slopes to the north and the West Park Woods to the west. The district is noted for its foul-smelling air, and downward-sloping muddy terrain, soft as quicksand in places, and dotted with tunnels leading down into the City Below.
Character Creationplugin-autotooltip__default plugin-autotooltip_bigCharacter Creation
Genesys is as heavy-weight as D&D. Read the rules and create a character if you want, or create a partial character (this online character sheet could help), or I’ll build one for you based on what you’re interested in playing.

The Depthsplugin-autotooltip__default plugin-autotooltip_bigThe Depths
A History of the Depths
by Dave
I only have brief flashes of memory from my life before this world. I think I blocked it out. I remember being unable to see, and having the use of only one limb – an arm that ended at the elbow. I’m pretty sure my other limbs were missing entirely. My first clear memory is opening my eyes to the first world I’d ever seen.

Sometimes, the characters find themselves in some alternate version of themselves. Why does this happen? No one knows.

Everyone is Bang
Story
For what felt like the first time, but could have been the hundredth for all you know, your attempts to explore Paradise turned into a desperate need to escape it. This was unexpected; a flashback you had over a year ago painted the place as much more welcoming. It took the loss of Cassandra to come upon the right com…

Narrative Dice
Whenever you have to roll (which isn’t all that often), you create a dice pool based on a characteristic, a relevant skill, the difficulty of the check and any circumstantial factors. Once you figure out what you rolled, you’ll have some combination of:

Principles of Magic
The City
We live in a huge megacity, which extends for hundreds of miles in every direction, as well as down below the surface, up into the sky and beyond. The rest of the world, as far as we know, is nothing but strip mines and toxic wasteland, with immense, solar-powered farming towers peppering (and polluting) the landscape.
Character Journalsplugin-autotooltip__default plugin-autotooltip_bigCharacter Journals
Write a journal whenever you feel like it. It can be a character's inner monologue, an actual physical journal, a 3rd person description of the story, or whatever. If you do, you get a free upgrade to any one roll in the next session! You can't have more than one of these at a time, and it doesn't carry over if you don't use it.
Principles of Magicplugin-autotooltip__default plugin-autotooltip_bigPrinciples of Magic
* You can’t make something out of nothing, or nothing out of something (mass is conserved) * Magic comes from below and returns to below. * There’s always a downward pull when using magic. * Using magic to fly would require a tremendous amount of power, to balance out that downward force.

Eion O'Shanessey
Pronounced “Owen.” Goes by “O” or “The O.”
Life Before Shadow
In Apex, Eion was a chemist, specializing in performance-enhancing drugs. He lived in a rented apartment (a penthouse, like every apartment in Apex), which was a front for his operation. Business was booming, but he was caught dealing with unsavory magical sorts.
Shadowplugin-autotooltip__default plugin-autotooltip_bigShadow
Shadow is the old city on the ground. It's a dark place, with the only external light coming from the few Apex floodlights that work and actually reach the ground. Most of these lights are blocked by the Floating Cities, leaving Shadow in only dim light during the day, and in utter darkness at night. Residents of Shadow call it simply
