Sword of Transmutation
Created by The DM.
The Sword of Transmutation can only be activated by a transmuter, a druid, or a spontaneous caster who knows at least one spell per level from the Transmutation school.
Powers
As a free action once per round, the wielder can cause the Sword to transform into any close-range one or two handed weapon which the wielder can carry. The sword can be made of any material, and be as ornate or ordinary as desired, though a successful DC 15 Appraise check will reveal that an ornate sword is not as valuable as it seems. The Sword is a +2 weapon.
The natural material of the sword is steel, and without renewing the effect, the Sword deteriorates back into its natural form ten minutes after the most recent transformation.
The sword can also be transformed into one of the four elements, in which case it gainst special abilities dependent on the element chosen. The elemental effects can be used as part of a regular attack, or as a touch attack, if the wielder forgoes the normal weapon damage.
Elemental Forms
The Earth Sword is made of oozing, bubbling mud. On a successful attack, the mud covers the target, giving the targe a -1 to all attacks. On a failed DC18 reflex save, the target's speed is halved. On another failed save, the target has a 20% miss chance on all attacks. The mud slides off and dissipates after one round, but it can be cleaned off with a Prestidigitation spell.
The Wind Sword is transparent, but the air around it shimmers, and small particles of whatever is in the area swirl around in the shape of a sword. The Wind Sword gives the wielder an additional +3 to attack, and has a 10% chance of making any attack as a touch attack.
The Water Sword is made of water, which flows up and down the length of the weapon. It deals 50% more damage to fire creatures, and can extinguish small, normal flames. Targets must make a DC16 will save or be dazed for one round.
Fire: The sword is made of flame, and acts as a light source equivalent to a torch. The sword can ignite flamable objects, and does 50% more damage against cold-based creatures. It deals 1d6 fire damage in a 5-foot cone.
